You may have excess inventory that you want to get rid of by either disposing or donating the inventory. The process for these orders is documented below.
Step 1. Create an order for the items you would like to dispose of or donate.
Name the order DISPOSE or DONATE
Set the shipping method as “Provide Weight and Dimensions”
Add “Dispose of Inventory” or “Donate Inventory” to the Special Instructions section of the order.
Step 2. Contact Support@Shipmonk.com
Notifying our team of the order and your wish to either donate or dispose of the product
Alert them if you will require any documentation (ShipMonk cannot provide tax documentation for donations)
Advise if you will arrange the pickup/disposal or if ShipMonk will handle it (see limitations for ShipMonk to donate/dispose in chart below)
If you arrange pickup of the goods for donation, you must confirm with the organization that they will pick up the order from ShipMonk and find out how much advance notice they need to collect the goods. All goods must be picked up within 3 business days after you are alerted by a Happiness Engineer that it is ready for pick up. If not picked up by the end of the 3rd business day, the order will be subject to a daily storage fee of $20 per pallet per day.
Step 3. Once the order is ready for either Disposal or Donation, the Happiness Engineer will confirm to you the final weights and dimensions, any disposal or donation fees, and begin coordinating the next steps either on your end or ours.
Step 4. The contents of the order will be picked up or disposed of. Once completed, you will be notified and any necessary documents, if requested, will be sent. ShipMonk cannot provide tax documentation from donations and if you require this you may arrange your own donation with the organization of your choice.
How do I know if my goods will be greater than a pallet's worth of inventory? In many cases it won’t be possible to know for sure until the order has been picked and prepped for either disposal or pickup. Your Happiness Engineer may be able to assist you in determining a rough estimate based upon prior orders and the contents of the order. This is not exact.
Can I place multiple orders for disposal with less than 1 pallet worth of goods? Each account is eligible for 1 free disposal (up to one pallet) per calendar month. If you place 2 orders in a single month, each for less than 1 pallet worth of good, you will be charged $100. If subsequent orders are placed in the same month for less than a pallet, each order will be subject to a $100 fee.
What if my donation order is greater than 1 pallet? ShipMonk is to facilitate donation of inventory greater than 1 pallet, and you must locate your own organization to donate to and facilitate either a pick up or shipment of the goods.
What is the cost associated with Disposal or Donation Orders? The orders are charged Pick & Pack, Packaging, Shipping Fees, and any Special Handling fees in the same manner and rate as any other order. For large disposal orders there is also a fee related to the collection of the items. The system will calculate the order as if we were picking individual units, and in the instance where whole cases are being picked, but the product is not master cases, please contact a Happiness Engineer and they will determine if your order is eligible for a pick fee reduction.
Can ShipMonk recommend any organizations for donation? We are unable to suggest any organizations for donation.
What kind of documentation can ShipMonk provide regarding disposal of products? We can provide written confirmation that we have disposed of the units specified within the order. If you have any specific requirements, please contact your Happiness Engineer prior to placing the order so we may confirm if the documentation is something we can provide.
